The front door opens, and Charlie McGee steps in, studying a piece of paper held loosely in one hand.

After a moment, she looks up from the paper and glances around in surprise. She hasn't been able to find a door here since January.

Usually, she has a hard time working through large chunks of prose - but she's nearing the end of WWII, in her reading, and tonight she seems to be fully absorbed.*

Trina Echolls is perched on a barstool, reading a tabloid. There's a picture of her (looking pale and tragic) on the cover under the headline "SICK JOKE."

Whatever she's reading, she seems to be pleased, amused, and a little smug.

Nick has never been an obtrusive person, so it's likely he wasn't noticed as he came down the stairs into the bar, and now that he is sitting by the observation window, his pad of paper and pencil pushed to one side, elbows on the table and clasped hands up to his mouth, he is still not particularly noteworthy ( Read more... )

This time, when Nick comes downstairs, and after he moves quietly to the bar, a chocolate Payday candybar appears with his drink.

He looks at it, bewildered, and pushes it away before taking a pull at his beer. He feel much better. Amazing what a few nights (without dreams) of good sleep will do for a soul.

She glides downstairs, head high and poise around her like armor. Moiraine crosses the room to the bar in order to request tea, which she receives -- along with two letters.

One finger taps the bar's surface thoughtfully, and then the Aes Sedai takes the letters and the cup of tea to her usual table.

Eddie returns from the Staff Wing, still wearing his heavy coat, which he sloughs off behind the Bar before he begins to chalk up the specials.
